Heart Attack

This post is very late but I wanted to get it documented on the blog.  I thought a happy post was in order after my last one too!  Winking smile

For Valentines Day, we had a “heart attack”!  I got this idea from my blogging friend, Shawni. I cut out hearts from different papers and we all wrote down things that we loved about each other.  Then we taped them up all over the kitchen.  It was awesome to have them everywhere and read all the sweet things the kids had to say about each other.

After Valentines Day, I just couldn’t bear to throw them all out.  I decided to put my favorites up all over the display board in the lounge area.  Here are a few of them…

I love this idea and think we are going to have to implement something like it more often throughout the year.  It was so fun to see the kids reading them all over and over.

Thankful Thursday.

It is time for another Thankful Thursday post.  I think I have missed the past couple weeks.  I am still going strong writing in my journal EVERY DAY.  I haven’t missed one yet.  Woohoo!

Here are a few lately…

70.  Noah making so many great friends here.  He is always on the phone with someone.

71.  A good hair day.  Even when it is wasted on a day where I don’t leave the house and Eric is out of town.

72.  My boys getting along and talking and laughing together.

73.  An extra day to the weekend to just hang out and relax a little.

74.  Finally finding a Domino’s pizza that I can stand to eat.  (It’s my family’s favorite pizza place for delivery.)

75.  Eric helping me furniture shop and then agreeing with me which one is best for our family even though it was a lot higher than what we had planned to spend.

76.  Eric laying on the couch reading his magazines so Kendall will read her book for school.

77.  A warm cozy fire on a cold day.  I will miss those this summer.

78.  A tall son who could reach the strings to some balloons I wanted that were up on the ceiling at the store.

79.  Making time to do dinner preparations earlier in the day.

80.  Everyone participating in “heart attach” and enjoying it too!

81.  Friends who I can vent to about school issues that are stressing me out. (Thanks Jennifer!)

82.  A morning where everything runs smoothly and everyone gets to school on time.

83.  Spending the day with my mom.  I treasure every one.

84.  My house.  I really enjoy spending time here.  I am actually becoming quite the homebody these days.

85.  My new yoga pants.  OH. SO. COMFORTABLE.

86.  Eric emptying the dishwasher everyday.  Every little bit is a huge help around here.

87.  Having someone who handles our rental property for us.

88.  Eric going to his favorite place (shooting range) and making it all about me and the kids.  He’s so much better at putting his wants aside for us than I am.

89.  Noah putting his arm around me at the range.  My heart melted.

90.  The good place that my relationship is with Logan right now.  (Hopefully I didn’t just jinx it!)

91.  Noah conquering one of his biggest fears.

92.  My mom coming over and helping with a house project.  She’s awesome!

93.  The sweet little note that Eric left me on the mirror one morning.

94.  Eric taking the boys to school on a crazy morning.  It helped A LOT.

95.  A dry and warm afternoon for Noah to practice his new bike skills.

96.  The sweet email from Eric that made me cry.

97.  Our new sectional that allows ALL of us to sit TOGETHER comfortably in the living room!  Smile

Have a great Thursday!!!

Thankful Thursday

I missed my “Thankful” post last week, so this one will be long.  I know it’s probably boring to read but I had to get it recorded here.  :)

29.  The kids getting to go bowl and spend time with their church friends.

30.  Fridays!! Especially ones where Eric comes home after a week long trip away.

31.  Baking a banana bread that Logan loves, seriously LOVES!!!

32.  Doing what was right for our family and saying no to a request from someone that would take time away from family.

33.  Family game night.  Even Logan seemed to enjoy it a lot.

34.  My new love of cooking. I am having fun making lots of new recipes for my family. I feel good feeding them less processed foods too.35.  My mom getting up early to come take boys to school so I wouldn’t have to get a sick Kendall up and out.

35.  My sweet Noah coming home and immediately asking Kendall if she is feeling better.  He genuinely cares for others.

36.  Logan telling me again (and again) how much he loved that banana bread and that I can make it again anytime, like now. LOL.

37.  A nice quiet relaxed evening at home, on a school night.  No fighting, whining, etc.

38.  Finishing up a work assignment. Only one more to do!!

39.  Someone else cooking dinner tonight.  He makes the best grilled cheeseburgers.

40.  My camera.  I am finally picking it up more and enjoying it too. :)

41.  Being somewhat tech-smart. It comes in handy with teenagers.

42.  Clean sheets. There is nothing better!

43.  My wonderful husband who makes all the beds for me.  I hate that chore!

44.  My hubby keeping his sexy beard for me even though I know it would be easier to shave it off.

45.  My life!  I am truly blessed beyond words

46.  The Gtown Youth Group.  Being a Christian teenager is hard. I am so glad he has such a great group of friends to inspire and support him. I wish I had had that when I was a teen.

47.  Kendall being such a social butterfly.  I hope she never loses that.  I wish I was more like her.

48.  For all the things Eric does to make me smile .  One of my greatest treasures are the times we laugh together.

49.  A short day in the copy room.

50.  ALL of the kids sitting together with us to watch Dolphin Tale.

51.  Kendall’s love of swimming. I swear she’s part fish.  She never took lessons.  Just jumped in one day and swam.

52.  The way Kendall’s face lit up when she saw her daddy there today lunch with her one day at school.

53.  My thankful journal.  I haven’t missed one day and it has really helped me to “see” the little blessings of everyday that I tend to miss.

54.  Blogging!!!  I LOVE taking time to back through and read older posts.

55.  Eric hanging little things for me when I get a new “idea.”

56.  Snuggle time with Eric just watching TV.

57.  How Eric always puts my happiness before his own.  I try to do this for him also but I know I could do better.

63.  Haircuts!!  For everyone.

64.  A husband who still finds me attractive and makes me feel loved.

65.  School days. Sometimes I just really need time at home, alone, to clean and get caught up on things.

66.  Jake and his parents picking up Logan every morning for school. Such a huge help.

67.  Giving up Facebook time.  I only get on once a week, if that, and only for about 2 minutes. I haven’t even missed it.

68.  Having the money to get the full set of braces that he needs. They are going on today!

69.  Time spent with Logan (and Jake) at the Grizzlies game. They were loving the VIP suite. :)

Thankful Thursday

This year I decided to start a journal of little everyday things that I am thankful for.  I find that sometimes with the chaos and stress of everyday life, I don’t take time to see all the blessings that each day holds.  This has really made me slow down and SEE all the good things, rather than focusing on all the bad ones.

Here goes a few of my journal entries so far…

1.  A teenage son that asks my advice nearly every morning on which outfit to wear.  At least he values my opinion on something.  ;-)

2.  My parents who are always happy to help when I am in a pinch picking up or dropping off kids.  They even take them for a few hours when I have stuff I need to get done.  So blessed.

3.  A husband who wants to spend all his spare time with the 4 of us, rather than out doing other things away.

4.  My washer and dryer!  I can not even IMAGINE how I would tackle these mountains of dirty clothes every day without them.

5.  My toaster oven.  Who knew that something I always thought was so dumb would become one of the most used and loved items in our kitchen!  Breakfast is prepared in there EVERY SINGLE MORNING.

6.  A successful month on the budget.   So far this month I am right on target.  Actually, we are doing a little better than I even forecasted.  Yay me!  :)

7.  Sunshine.  My moods are greatly affected by the weather.  I could never live somewhere that was cloudy or overcast all the time.

8.  Zoe.  She is always right beside me, keeping me company, while the kids are at school everyday. She follows me all over the house while I am cleaning, etc.  I know most days she just wishes I could sit down so she could get some rest!

9.  Our DVR.  I love that we can record our fav shows and then watch them together after the kids go to bed.  Our own little mini dates.  Smile

10.  My sweet boy Noah.  He told me that the new calzones I made were “amazing.”  Much better than his faves at MPC.

11.  Homemade banana bread.  YUM!

12.  My sweet friend Shawn who keeps me up on all the latest and greatest techie stuff.  Especially iphone/ipad related.  Even though we don’t live close, she is one of my best friends.

13.  Twitter for weather related posts.  When we are having severe weather, Twitter is AWESOME for getting you up to the second reports and warnings.

14.  Sweet little “I love you” notes from Kendall.  They melt my heart every time.

15.  A few stolen moments alone with Noah.  Even if it is just running to the store to buy a Nerf gun for a birthday party.

16.  Eric staying up late and watching the severe weather with me even though he has to be up in just a few hours to catch an airplane.

17.  Game night with Kendall and Noah.  Need to do this more!

18.  Meeting mom at Starbucks for a nice visit to start off my day.

19.  Family blogs that have great photos that inspire me.  I have a couple that I can’t wait to read every day.

20.  ERIC!  When he is gone, I realize just how much I need him just to renew my sanity after a crazy day.

21.  A smooth morning getting all the kids out the door on time.

22.  An evening at home with the kids where they are all in a good time and we have nice conversations.

23.  A teenager in desperate need of a haircut who announces he is ready to get one!!!!

24.  Chocolate chip cookie dough (minus the chocolate chips).  I swear I could just sit down and eat a whole bowl.

25.  When Logan and I can have open and honest conversations about what’s going on in his life, pressures, etc.

26.  Early morning call from Eric just to say he loves me and to have a great day.

27.  Eric unloading and loading the dishwasher before he heads out of town so I don’t have a sink full of dishes to deal with.

28.  Noah being such a great student and getting an academic achievement pin at school.

You get the idea.  Just little things, but they are ones that tend to get overlooked in the busyness of our lives.  Going forward I hope to incorporate pictures to go along with some of these.

Take a few minutes to stop and see all the things today that you are thankful for.  You’ll be amazed at just how blessed you really are!  Smile
